See you at the yellow barn!
We have exciting news! The shop will be relocating later this month to a new location in Warren. While we weren't looking to move the business at this particular time many of you suggested that we consider moving to the old yellow barn at 384 Market St. (Highway 136) near the Warren-Swansea line. It has much better visibility, one of the highest traffic counts in this area, and is a charming space that also happens to have windows on all 4 sides that I can open!! It is air conditioned for those days when it really is necessary. For those of you that endured the unbearable temperature in my current location the weekend of the sale I had recently, you were such troopers! The thermostat here was off the chart and it was sweltering. You were all so nice though, which really impressed me. I guess it shouldn't have, I like to think I have some of the nicest, kindest customers around. The new location also has a lovely deck with "husband benches", plenty of parking, lots of natural light, and many other nice features.

I really try to help my customers, listen to their suggestions, etc.. Well, I listened to those of you that separately from each other kept telling me I should consider that space. So when I am really tired and dragging the next few weeks, remind me it is all about customer service!!  Truth be told I have always thought that was a neat piece of property and when it was for sale a number of years ago wished I had gone to look at it before it sold.  This sort of reminds me of when my son, who was in the 2nd grade at the time, told us we should buy the house in Illinois that abutted our back yard.  It was a lovely old farm house on 2 1/2 acres, had a horse pasture and a barn, was on a brick street, set on a hill overlooking our pretty stone church directly across the street from it.  Well we listened to him and it really was one of the best moves we ever made, and it really got me to love the country primitive style.  Here I go again, moving because many of you suggested it would be a better location, and the move would help to increase the numbers of new people coming through the store also because of the high visibility.  I just have one request, after we are moved and settled please don’t anyone suggest I move again for at least several years.  It has been 15 years since we moved across the backyard in Illinois, maybe in another 15 years I’ll consider a move to a sunny, warm tropical location.

The time frame for this move as of now is to close here August 23 and reopen there no later than Tuesday, Sept 2.  Hopefully we can have it open the Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend but for sure by Tuesday, Sept. 2.  We will start moving items over the middle of August, but the big moving day for now is scheduled Sunday, August 24.  Up until that time there are bargains to be had!  I still have many of the items from the big sale 2 weeks ago out, and what is left on the “bargain tables” is getting marked down even further.  Additional items are being added to the sale daily.

In closing I want you to know the new location will be laid out in such a way that it will be stroller and wheelchair friendly.  Many of you comment that what you like about my current space is that you have room to move, not feel like you are going to knock stuff over, not have to go in a one way pattern around the shop etc… I will work hard to maintain a similar feel in the new space.  It is a little bit smaller so there might not be as much open floor space, but it will be wheelchair and stroller friendly for sure.

The shop will be closed on Sunday’s this month but after we move will be open again on Sunday’s.  I will try to send an update later in the month.

Thank you so very much for your business, your support, and your friendship.
